Wanda Reign Hotel Chengdu Breakfast Buffet: So Many Options to Choose From
Since I was staying at the Wanda Reign Hotel in Chengdu (by the way, I was able to get here via the Chongqing to Chengdu High-Speed Train), I went to their breakfast buffet.
I first checked out the pastries and desserts section. There were so many choices! And everything was placed in fancy glass jars and boxes.
There was even caviar for breakfast.
The little jam jars stuffed inside the wooden drawers were one of the cutest things that I had ever seen.
They had a variety of breads and croissants, as you can see in the images above.
They had neatly labelled all the jars so that the hotel guests would know what exactly was being served.
I really liked how the fresh bakery items were served on wooden trays. The Pitaya soft bread was dusted with red color and looked really interesting.
There were three different flavors of muffin, raspberry, original and almond. They all looked delicious.
As you can see in the image above, there were so many different kinds of donuts. There were glazed donuts and simple sugar donuts and even stuffed donuts.
I also had to try the famous Chinese egg tarts and the almond tarts.
The Danishes all had different shapes and were topped with fruits, chopped nuts and cream. Anyone who had a sweet tooth would definitely love the Danish bread at the Wanda Reign buffet.
One of the things that I found most interesting was the green tea biscuit. There was a cool pair of tongs with which I could serve myself a biscuit from the jar.
They also had many other flavors of cookie, including cranberry.
Finally, I left the bakery section and went to look at all the drinks. Pineapple juice was being served in small glass bottles.
Not only did they have individual bottles of juice, there was also fresh juice in large jars. Glasses were kept underneath for guests to serve themselves. I saw healthy stuff like celery juice and watermelon juice.
They also had bowls of bircher muesli.
A variety of flavored yogurt was available in little containers.
They also had some traditional and local dishes. The ice soybean pudding took up one end of a counter. There were toppings like dragon fruit and raisins and guests could take whatever they wanted in a bowl.
There was a cute drawing beside the ice soybean pudding with a drawing of the pudding. It made the whole station look like a DIY project.
There was a whole salad section with options like peanuts and mushrooms.
I even saw one salad with chicken and another with red pepper slices and okra. Some of the food looked quite unique and new. I had never tried such dishes.
The fresh fruits section, as you can see in the images above, was really well-stocked.
In case a guest didn’t want the readymade salads, they could make their own salad with the vegetables, beans and salad dressings of their choice.
There were so many different kinds of lettuce, arugula and other salad greens! I barely knew what to choose.
The sushi also looked really appetizing. The plate had already started to empty so I knew that they must be good. The rice seemed fluffy and perfectly cooked and they were stuffed with fresh vegetables.
I headed to the cheese and meat section next. It was all kept on a bed of ice to make sure that everything remained as fresh as possible.
There were thin slices of salami and ham and other cold cuts.
I saw that the hotel staff had laid out six or seven different kinds of cereal, including corn flakes, honey loops, raisin bran and coco pops. But I thought it wasn’t a good idea to put them in bowls. The cereal might become soft and soggy if it was left out in the open air.
There were options for hot and cold milk and whole or skim milk.
Healthy options like sweet potatoes were available (and speaking about your health, they also have a swimming pool & gym here).
I even saw an extremely cheesy pizza! I had never seen pizza served for breakfast before but it looked quite good.
One of the more unique things was the tea egg, where there were boiled eggs floating in a large container of black tea.
Guests could get eggs to order any way that they wanted. Eggs over easy or sunny side up were the popular options.
Hot dishes like fried green beans or fried celery and other fried vegetables were kept warm.
Of all the soups, the white fungus soup looked the most unique and fascinating.
There were a variety of toppings like chili oil that I could use.
The bacon looked especially tasty.
The noodles station was excellent.
There were so many different kinds of Chinese greens and noodles.
The toppings and flavoring agents were also endless. I could get peanut butter or sesame seeds, green onions or chili oil.
It was one of the biggest breakfast buffet spreads that I had ever seen.
And I also loved how everything was served in blue and white porcelain.
