Gym & Laundry of Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Shijo Karasuma Hotel: Amenities for a More Comfortable Stay

I was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Shijo Karasuma Hotel

While I was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Shijo Karasuma Hotel, I decided to check out all the facilities that the hotel had to offer. It was a big hotel ideally located in the heart of Kyoto and was very popular. So I felt like it would have all the necessary amenities for the use of the guests.

fitness center

I first went to the fitness center (I think it’s best to go here before having breakfast at Le Bon Vivre). It was open, so I pushed open the door and stepped inside.

water dispenser

The first thing that met my eye was a water dispenser that provided both regular and cold water.

basket full of towels

Paper cups sat piled up on a tray and there was a basket full of towels which the guests could use.

bin to dispose of the used towels

There was also a neatly labelled bin to dispose of the used towels.

trash can for the cups

Right underneath the water dispenser was a trash can for the cups. It was all very convenient.

rules and regulations for the fitness center

The rules and regulations for the fitness center had been clearly written. It was open 24 hours for the hotel guests but they had to adhere to rules like not using mobile phones.

emergency kit and rules about how to administer CPR

I also saw an emergency kit and rules about how to administer CPR.

exercise bikes and treadmills

Then I turned my attention towards the actual gym equipment. It was quite a small gym and it mostly just had some cardio equipment. I could see exercise bikes and treadmills.

There was also some strength training equipment.

dumbbells

The dumbbells had all been arranged in neat rows.

large TV inside the gym

There was a large TV inside the gym and on one side was a huge mirror.

weight training bench

I also saw a weight training bench.

dumbbells were of different weights

The dumbbells were of different weights.

exercise balls

And the exercise balls would be good for balance and stretching exercises.

normal bench

There was a normal bench off to one side where guests could keep their things.

gym was a little limited

I thought the gym was a little limited as compared to other hotel gyms I had seen.

elevator to the laundry room

Next, I took the elevator to the laundry room. It was on Level 2, the floor below the fitness center.

washing machine

I could see the washing machines through the net door. The laundry was empty of people, just like the gym.

A list showed the terms and conditions of using the laundry room

A list showed the terms and conditions of using the laundry room. The laundry machine’s status was shown on the TVs in the hotel rooms, which I thought was brilliant!

notice

A notice stated that if guests did not collect their clothes within 30 minutes of washing them, the hotel might collect the clothes.

two machines inside the room

There were two machines inside the room and the hotel had provided detailed instructions about how to use them. Detergent was automatically released once the load started.

instructions about cashless payment

There were instructions about cashless payment.

Differing loads cost different amounts of money

Differing loads cost different amounts of money. It varied from 200 Yen to 700 Yen, depending on how much the load weighed and how long you ran it.

I chose the first machine and quickly loaded my clothes
