I first went to the gym at Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li Hotel. At the entrance, there was a cabinet filled with bottles of water and fresh towels. There were also some decorative items and a cactus plant.

I looked towards the side of the room where the treadmills had been set up. They were in front of a wall of windows.
The hotel gym was quite high up. It was on one of the top floors of the building and the view of the city of Chengdu was brilliant.
Beyond the treadmills, there was an elliptical cross trainer and a couple of exercise bikes. All the machines had screens to keep track of time and speed and such details.
It wasn’t a very big gym by hotel standards. But it did have some different kinds of equipment and it was kept very neat and clean. I liked that. The gym was pretty empty when I went to visit so I had time to look around and take pictures of everything.
Then I saw the dumbbells. There were dumbbells starting at 4 kg and going up to 14 kg. There was only one pair of each kind but it was enough.
The exercise bikes would be a great workout for the leg muscles. They also had screens that the visitors could check while exercising.
I saw a training bench on one side of the gym. It had been cleaned and wiped down so I knew that the staff took good care of the gym equipment.
I decided to use one of the exercise bikes for a while.
In one corner of the room, there was a weighing scale. Visitors to the gym could check their weight before and after a workout session.
Then I did a short session on the treadmill.
I thought that it was interesting that the Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li mostly just had cardio equipment. The strength training equipment was very limited.
I think that lack of space has limited the hotel gym.
After a short exercise session, I left the hotel gym (By the way, I also had a nice breakfast buffet experience during my stay here.).
I walked towards the laundromat. There were arrows and directions showing the way.
The laundry room was airy and bright. It was also on one of the upper floors and had big windows that let in a lot of sunshine.
There were so many washing machines and clothes dryers! They were all arranged in a row.
The washers were all at the bottom and the dryers were on top. There were a number of instructions about how to use the machines stuck to the front. Everything was written in both Chinese and English.
I counted eight machines in total. They had been fitted into a small nook in the wall.
There was a sign in the room that said it was for the use of women only. I wondered if they had a separate room for men to use.
There were two chairs and a table filled with water bottles. Guests could wait for their laundry to finish running while relaxing on one of the chairs.
There was even an ironing section at the back. There were a couple of irons and ironing boards.
There was even a rack and a clothes hanger where guests could hang up shirts they had already ironed. I thought that would be very useful. Guests wouldn’t need to carry wrinkled clothes back to their rooms.
They had a steaming press where guests could press their clothes by steaming them. It was already plugged into the corner of the room and was ready for use.
The ironing section of the laundry was just as neat and clean as the rest of the room.
On the opposite were some bookshelves with books so guests could entertain themselves while waiting.
Two pages of rules and regulations had been stuck on one of the walls. It instructed guests to be careful while using the iron and to check all the pockets before washing clothes.
The commercial washers could automatically add detergent. Guests didn’t need to use detergent separately.
I liked how the machines had clear step by step instructions printed on them. Even people who weren’t familiar with such machines could use them.
I quickly chose my program and set my clothes to wash.
