I had decided to spend the night at the Holiday Inn near the Queenstown Airport (by the way, I also stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel here in Queenstown and there’s also a nice Chinese restaurant named No.8 Noodle Bar near this place). As I drove up to the big building, I could see a lot of guests standing in front of the reception. They were checking in or leaving. The hotel seemed really busy. I hoped that I would be shown to my room quickly.

The reception area looked very modern and well-decorated. There were marble desks everywhere and fancy looking lamps hanging from the ceiling.
I went up to the reception staff and spoke to them about my room. Since they were quite busy, I had to wait for some time. I spent that time looking around the lobby. The grey and white marble and the teal curtains behind it made the room look very luxurious.
There was an elevator in one corner of the room. Right next to the elevator, steps led up to a seating area. Palm trees in big pots had been used to decorate the reception area. The green helped add some color to the grey and white shades of the reception.
On one side, there was a coffee bar. Low stools had been placed under the counter so that people could sit down and enjoy their coffee if they wanted to. The reception had large glass windows and there was a TV on one side of the room.
There were two trays of clean and dirty glasses, which were neatly labelled. And there was a large jug of Italian almond flavored tea. It was kept hot and guests could pour themselves a glass if they wanted to.
I also saw that there was a visitor kiosk with information about the food, activities and other aspects of the hotel.
Some steps led up to a bar. Some people were seated at the bar, drinking and chatting. It was already evening so naturally the bar was busy. There was another casual seating area in front of the bar.
Finally, I was shown into my room. A small corridor led through the dressing area and into the main room. On the left was the closet and on the right was the door to the bathroom.
There was a locker in the closet where guests could store money, passports or other valuables.
Some clothes hangers were hanging up in the closet. There were a pair of clean bathrobes hanging from the clothes hangers and the rest were free so I could hang up my clothes if I wished.
There was a laundry and dry cleaning service that the hotel provided for a charge.
The mini-bar had an assortment of tea, coffee, cookies and sugar sachets that had all been neatly organized.
There was also a small coffee machine, an electric kettle that had been plugged in already and a pair of bright yellow mugs to drink from.
Below that was a small fridge.
The only thing inside the fridge was a carton of milk.
Then I decided to check out the rest of the room.
There was a large and spacious double bed with a very thick mattress. It had lots of pillows and looked pretty comfortable.
The room had a pair of recycling and wastepaper bins.
There were both soft and firm pillows provided.
An intercom system could be used to get in touch with the hotel staff.
There was a large screen TV right opposite the bed. It was connected to the internet and guests could watch Netflix or Hulu.
I had booked a non-smoking room. The hotel provided an in-room copy of a magazine about Queenstown. I flipped through the beautiful pictures.
There was a small writing desk and table in the room.
The curtains had been drawn across the windows. The sofa was small but comfortable and brightly colored cushions had been placed in one corner. There was also a small side table where guests could keep personal items.
The bathroom had beautiful blue tiles and a lovely dressing table and mirror. The shower looked quite big and spacious.
Bottles of hand and body wash and body lotion had been provided by the hotel.
They had also provided vanity kits and disposable combs as well as bags to dispose of sanitary items.
I found a hairdryer tucked away inside a cupboard.
Extra hand towels and bath towels were kept neatly folded right underneath the washbasin. There was also an extra roll of toilet paper at the back of the shelf.
The bathroom had a towel warmer and two pairs of bath towels and hand towels were folded on it. That way, the towels stayed warm and dry.
The shower stall had a convenient hand shower. There were bottles of shampoo, conditioner and hand and body wash lined up in the shower. They were all by a brand called Soak.
