I Went from Kyoto to Osaka by Private Car Transfer

Black van with sliding door open on a sunny street.

While travelling from Kyoto to Osaka, I decided to go by private car. I knew that the train system in Japan was very good and I could have taken a train.

But I wanted to travel in comfort and Japan’s roads were very good as well.

I booked a private car on Get Your Guide. They sent a huge car and driver for me, which would comfortably fit both me and my luggage. As soon as I was inside, we started off.

There were some warning stickers inside the car which warned customers not to eat or drink or smoke inside the car. I thought that was quite reasonable because the car would smell of food or smoke otherwise.

Then there was another long list of rules and regulations. The rules said that everyone in the car had to wear a seatbelt. They shouldn’t eat or smoke even e-cigarettes and they shouldn’t litter.

People who disobeyed the rules would be asked to pay a compensation fee.

What I liked about the car was how big it was and how much legroom there was inside the car. I could stretch out my legs without any problem. I sat in the back and left the passenger seat next to the driver empty.

There was plenty of space at the back for me to store my suitcases. I threw my jacket in the empty seat beside the suitcases and settled in for a comfortable ride. I was looking forward to seeing Osaka after spending a few days exploring Kyoto.

The car was really clean and even the mats underneath my feet were all spic and span. I was really very impressed by the state of the car and was quite pleased that I had booked this mode of transportation.

Blurred view of parking lot and building through car window, sunny sky.

I looked out of the window and saw how wide the roads were. There were tall buildings on either side and I could see lots of other cars on the road. The sky was blue with feathery clouds everywhere.

There were pockets on the back of the front seats. I could tuck some of my essentials inside the pockets.

The streets were reclining. If I pressed a button on the armrest of my chair, I could lean back my seat to the perfect angle. I tried leaning back as far as I could and was sure that I could even take a nap if I wanted to.

I was sad that the ride would be so short. If it had been a longer ride, I would definitely have tried to sleep.

A sun roof above the driver’s head allowed sunlight to shine into the car. I looked out of the front window and saw an avenue full of coniferous trees. I was sorry that we wouldn’t be seeing too much of Japan’s beautiful countryside while driving to Osaka.

I could easily control the temperature and see the time on a tiny screen next to me.

The driver of the car was driving with great skill. Soon, we had reached Osaka and I was ready to explore another iconic Japanese city!
