In one of my recent travels, I managed to make use of the Malaysia Airlines’ BMW/Mercedes Private Transfer and boy was I impressed. The transfer was to KLIA’s satellite terminal for international arrivals and departures and it was as smooth as can be. Unfortunately, this service isn’t for everyone but if you do end up booking a business class or business suite flight or as MAS Enrich Platinum member, then you should definitely try this out. Why, you ask? Well, read on further for my thoughts and impressions of this service and you’ll get the answer to that question.
Malaysia Airlines BMW/Mercedes Private Transfer to KLIA Satellite Terminal: An Excellent Service for Business Travelers
Find this sign to take the transfer to satellite terminal via Malaysia Airlines.
To get to the private transfer, you’ll need to look for this sign once you’re at the KLIA Main Terminal. Now the Main Terminal has an Aerotrain which is also an option for you to use if you want to get to the Satellite Terminal. This can get quite crowded though which makes the private transfer much better if you already have a business or business suite (used to be first class) ticket.
You’ll know you’re headed in the right direction once you see this sign. Again, you’re going to want to follow where it points. Now even though it was a rather long walk going to the private transfer area, I actually prefer this because of how less crowded it was here. KLIA is said to be the second busiest airport in Southeast Asia and I tell you, the foot traffic can be a little unpleasant at times.
So this is where you want to be. From here, you can see the cars that are going to be used for the private transfer through the glazed wall. You can approach the staff in the lobby here and they’ll then direct you to one of the waiting cars outside. In the event a car isn’t available then you’ll have to wait a while in the lobby. That said, there were plenty of sedans when I was there so I was immediately escorted to one that was available.
Before exiting, I took a picture of this glazed wall that also featured images from the countries/locales that Malaysia Airlines flew to. Honestly, this was kind of cool since a lot of the countries here are destinations that I hope to get to someday. Anyway, this was definitely a nice way to motivate people like me to explore more places and cultures outside of my own.
After that, one of the staff pointed outside to the car that was supposed to be our private transfer. I’m not much of a car person but I do appreciate beautiful designs and this beauty was quite impressive. The first thing that stood out was the LED light strip spanning its back which reminded me of the TRON movies for some reason.
So this is the back of the private transfer up close. As you can see, it’s a Mercedes Benz EQS 500 4MATIC and its set top speed is at 25km/h. Now it can obviously go much faster but for transfers to and from the Satellite Terminal it’s set at that top speed. Another thing that’s interesting about this car is that it’s fully electric and also features an all-wheel drive system.
We’ll circle back to the car’s exteriors and specs later. After loading my luggage I got inside and was immediately impressed with how comfortable the seats were. That said, the comfort I felt was far outweighed by my curiosity of the car’s dashboard. I mean, would you just look at that! Called the MBUX Hyperscreen, this dashboard further reinforced my initial impression that this car came out of TRON or a sci-fi movie with just how cutting edge and futuristic it looked.
So there was also an infotainment system here for backseat passengers. The trip to the Satellite Terminal was relatively quick though so I just didn’t bother using it. If this were an hours long ride though, I’d definitely use this to listen to my favorite music or maybe even watch a show that I’d like to keep up to date on.
As for the ride itself, it was quite smooth. Between this private transfer and the Aerotrain, I’m probably going to be choosing the private transfer 9 times out of 10. The one time I’m choosing the Aerotrain is if there are only a handful of people on it with me (which is honestly close to impossible). Not having to worry about crowds is a luxury I’m honestly more than willing to pay for.
Here you can see the door panel for the back seats. Remember the infotainment system a couple of images earlier? There’s a speaker grille here for its audio. If I’m not mistaken, this is part of the Burmester 3D Surround Sound System that Mercedes Benz uses for the majority of its luxury vehicles. You’ll also notice the ambient lighting on the door panel which I think would really stand out at night.
Upon reaching the Satellite Terminal I made sure to take one last picture of the front of the EQS500. Man, it really does look awesome regardless of which angle you’re viewing it from. Anyway, after alighting from the vehicle, the staff here were also kind enough to help unload my luggage from the back of the car.
Before I went inside, I decided to take one last picture of the car that I rode here on. It really was amazing just how smooth and comfortable the whole transfer was on this. Again, if you’re on business class or business suite or as MAS Platinum member then you’re going to want to make use of this transfer.
Private transfers using the EQS 500 4MATIC isn’t just applicable for departures. This gate has transfers to the Main Terminal available for Malaysia Airlines business class and business suite arrivals as well. The process is more or less the same with departures. Once you’ve arrived at the Satellite Terminal just look for the sign leading to this gate (C1) and the staff will assist you with the transfer.
The area here also had a great view of the Malaysia Airlines planes taxiing into the terminal’s jet bridge. Now I said earlier that it was worth it to get a transfer if you booked a business class or business suite seat. It’s actually also possible to use the private transfer if you have a Malaysia Airlines Enrich Platinum or Gold membership. Mercedes Benz owners who fly Malaysia Airlines can get access to this service as well but they’ll need to have bought their cars before March 1st of 2025.
Now that I’ve entered the Satellite Terminal, my next destination (before my flight) is the Malaysia Airlines Platinum Lounge. If you want to know more about my experience there then I’ll be talking about it in another article (and you can also read this article about my experience at KLIA2’s Plaza Premium Lounge).
To sum things up, get the Malaysia Airlines Mercedes Benz Private Transfer at KLIA if you can. The cars provided for the transfer are great and offer smooth and seamless travel between the Main and Satellite Terminal. Oh and the cars used for these transfers aren’t just your run-of-the-mill sedans. I’m talking about Mercedes Benz luxury EVs with top of the line features and some of the most comfortable riding you’ll ever experience.
Have you had the chance to experience Malaysia Airlines’ private transfer at KLIA? If yes then we’d like to hear about your thoughts and impressions of it down in the comments!
