Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li Hotel: A Nice, Comfortable Place to Stay
I stayed at the Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li Hotel while I was in Chengdu. I entered the hotel through a set of revolving doors and looked around the reception area.
The very first thing that I saw was a café. There was an ice cream cart right next to the entrance and some bakery shelves next to that. It was quite empty when I arrived and there weren’t even many people in the lobby.
On one table, the hotel staff had arranged some containers and jars of tea and flavored water (they also offer this on their breakfast buffet). It was refreshing and a nice welcome for the guests who just arrived after a long day.
I looked around the lobby while completing my check-in.
Then I entered my room. The bathroom was right next to the door and it was quite elegant. There was a large washbasin with a set of clean towels next to it.
In one corner, next to the basin, there was a box of tissues as well as some hand wash and lotion.
The hotel had also provided all the necessary amenities like a dental kit, shaving kit, shower cap and small hand towels.
When I looked under the basin, I found a weighing machine, a waste paper basket and a cloth laundry basket on the floor.
The closet had some bare clothes hangers hanging from a rack. It would be useful for hanging up some coats, shirts and dresses if I didn’t want them to get wrinkles.
The bottom of the closet even had a shoe kit and other necessary items.
A small basket held a pair of bedroom slippers provided by the hotel. They were wrapped in thin cloth bags. There was also a mosquito repellant right next to it.
There were some additional items wrapped in plastic in the closet. I didn’t open them to see what was inside.
The hotel had provided a safe where I could store my valuables. I could set the code myself and all my things would be kept secure.
There were some shelves beside the bathroom where extra towels had been stored.
The bathroom had sliding doors and was pretty spacious for a hotel bathroom.
There was a hairdryer kept in a neat little box for the use of all hotel guests.
The bathroom was decorated in mostly neutral tones but there were gold accents that I really liked. The faucets and shower head and towel racks were all in a dull, metallic gold.
The shower and the toilet area were separated by a wall in the middle. This meant that the rest of the bathroom wouldn’t get wet after I took a shower.
The shower and toilet areas were tiled with some grey marble and the whole space looked quite luxurious.
The hotel staff had provided toilet paper and there was even a remote holder to store the AC remote inside the bathroom.
I could control the temperature from inside the bathroom without needing to step out into the room.
The shower area not only had a hand shower but also an overhead shower head.
Bottles of conditioner, shampoo and shower gel had been provided by the hotel.
Then I went to check out the rest of the room. It wasn’t too large but it was cozy and it had a whole wall of windows.
There was a large screen TV right opposite the bed. It would make it easy to lie in bed and watch a movie or show at night. There was a desk and chair right next to the TV. I could sit at the desk and look out of the windows if I wanted.
The room had a comfortable double bed with four pillows and a long couch next to the window. There were some yellow wall lamps and a tall standing lamp. It wasn’t as luxurious and expensive looking as some of the other hotels I had stayed at in China (like Wanda Reign Hotel Chengdu and Grand Hyatt Hotel Chengdu). But it seemed like a comfortable hotel overall.
Opposite the windows were some shelves and the mini bar.
The cushions were stacked on the shelves and were in very pretty colors.
The hotel had also provided an electric tea kettle, a couple of big mugs, some tea, coffee and sugar sachets and two bottles of water.
Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li also provided some cookies for the guests.
I peeped in the tiny fridge. The front was glass and I could see some drinks and energy bars inside the fridge. I could try any of them if I wanted to.
The TV screen had a full picture of the hotel façade on it.
White sheer curtains had been pulled across the windows for privacy but large buildings were visible on the other side.
The bedside table held some tissues, an intercom as well as information like the numbers of the reception and housekeeping.
I peeped through the curtains. It was a sunny and clear day.
