Peppers Bluewater Resort Lake Tekapo: Luxury Apartments Overlooking Lake Tekapo
The Peppers Bluewater Resort has luxury apartments that overlook the beautiful Lake Tekapo. I decided to stay there during my visit to Lake Tekapo.
Fresh snow had fallen and the area around the resort was completely white.
All the rooms had big windows and balconies. There was a seating area in front that would be perfect during the summer.
The view of the lake from Peppers Bluewater Resort was really beautiful. It was a cloudy day so the water looked dark. But there were coniferous trees and snow covered hills on all sides.
I walked into the lobby and reception area first. The floors were made of wood and there were two comfortable leather armchairs before the fire.
The hotel had placed brochures and pamphlets about renting taxis on the front desk. This was very helpful for the guests.
There was even a café and bar area inside the hotel. As soon as I walked in, I saw that all kinds of drinks were available.
It was daytime so the area was empty when I arrived.
The view of Lake Tekapo was awesome even from inside the hotel (Just like in my room at the Hermitage Hotel where I also had a stunning view of Mount Cook.).
There were a few hotel staff already standing behind the front desk. I went and spoke to them about my room.
I was shown to my room immediately. The room really looked like an apartment. It had a living room and a dining area on the first floor, along with a small kitchen. The room had sliding doors which opened outside.
There was a big, bright painting hanging above the sofa. I looked out of the glass doors. I could see one corner of Lake Tekapo from my room.
In the corner right beside the glass doors, there was a large screen TV. There were heavy curtains over the windows. I would be able to draw them in the evening and keep the room warm.
I found a welcome note on the coffee table before the sofa. It had all the rules and regulations of the hotel. There was also a QR code and Wi-Fi password that I could use if I wanted to.
I looked at the table under the TV. There was a telephone and intercom system on the shelf that I could use to call the reception.
The kitchen was small but it looked very well equipped. It had all the utensils and appliances that I would need to cook. The room also had an air-conditioner and a dining table for four people.
On one side of the counter, there was an espresso machine, tea, coffee and sugar sachets as well as some cookies. There were also instructions about how I could brew a cup of coffee.
Under the counter were a dishwasher and a couple of cabinets.
The dishwasher had a reminder stuck to the door that guests should only use dishwashing powder.
I opened one of the cabinets and found a juicer, cheese grater, measuring cups and some serving bowls.
Then I decided to open the cupboard under the sink and there were some kitchen towels and other cleaning supplies there.
The cutlery drawer held spoons, forks, butter knives and dessert spoons.
And another drawer held wooden spatulas, ladles and whisks.
I even found potato mashers, bottle openers and can openers in one of the drawers, as you can see in the image above. Peppers Bluewater Resort had really thought of everything!
I kept opening drawers and cabinets in the kitchen to see what other things they had provided. One of the drawers had a large sieve and a pair of whisks for an electric mixer.
There was a large mixing bowl and a non-stick frying pan.
One drawer had three saucepans in three different sizes.
And one drawer even had a draining board in case I washed and dried utensils by hand.
The oven was quite big and had a steel rack and baking tray inside.
In one cabinet, I found a chopping board.
Right beside the stove, there was a knife block with many different kinds of knives.
There was a window in the kitchen so that the kitchen area didn’t look dark during the daytime.
Right above the stove was a chimney. This would help remove all the smells of cooking from the room.
The stove had four burners of different sizes and each had a knob to control it.
The oven was right under the burner.
An electric kettle had been placed on the counter just in front of the window.
The resort had even provided a microwave in the kitchen to heat up food.
Glasses, mugs and cups had been stored in a cabinet.
Another cabinet held plates and bowls on the top shelf and a toaster on the bottom shelf.
When I opened the fridge, I found that it was empty.
The room had a wastebasket with different compartments for recyclable and non-recyclable waste.
I also found that the microwave was easy to use.
Next, I went upstairs to the bedroom.
It had a balcony with chairs outside but it was too cold to sit outside now.
The hotel had decorated the room with paintings and photographs.
There was a double bed and it was a comfortable size. Pillows and cushions had been piled on top of the bed so I could use as many as I wanted.
I peeped out through the window at the lake. Just one corner was visible from my bedroom.
I opened the balcony door and a cold breeze blew in through it (it was cold here, just like during my stay at Mt Cook Lodge and Motels).
There was another TV in the bedroom, along with an air-conditioner and a mirror to get ready.
The satellite service for the TV was Sky.
I closed the balcony windows and came back inside the room.
Then I went to check the closet and bathroom.
The closet had a hairdryer, an iron and even an ironing board in one corner.
The hotel staff had left an extra blanket on a shelf. The racks were full of clothes hangers if I wanted to hang up some of my outfits.
There was a window beside the closet so the area wasn’t too dark.
I found another heavy blanket neatly folded on one of the shelves.
Finally, I opened the bathroom door. There was a huge mirror above the washbasin. It made the room look much bigger.
Clean white bath towels had been folded on top of the towel rack. One towel hung from the handle of the rack.
Peppers Bluewater Resort had provided vanity kits and a box of tissues that had been placed just above the basin. Hand towels had been kept folded in a corner.
Hand and body wash and skin lotion had been provided for the guests. They had a lovely smell of sweet orange, geranium and blackcurrant.
There was a warming rack to keep the towels warm and dry for the winter months. It was plugged in and switched on.
The switches and temperature control panel were right beside the door within easy reach.
Right opposite the bathroom door was the shower. It had a very convenient hand shower and one wall had been painted blue.
The resort had provided big bottles of shampoo, conditioner and hand and body wash. The shampoo and conditioner had a unique mandarin, clove bud and jasmine flavor.
