My Review of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Queenstown

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Queenstown: Good Location and Excellent Amenities

Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Queenstown

I stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Queenstown (By the way, I also stayed at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel during my visit to Christchurch, and you can read my review about it here.). It was not near the center of town, and but located near Queenstown airport.

snowcapped mountains

I looked down the street and could see the snowcapped mountains very nearby (and if you’re looking for a nice place to eat Korean Food here in Queenstown, I highly recommend the Mapo88 Restaurant).

pretty large hotel

It was a pretty large hotel and there was room to park cars in front.

hotel was located on a slight hill

The hotel was located on a slight hill so the road gently curved up along the side of the hotel.

signs hung up on a fence at the parking lot

There were a lot of signs hung up on a fence at the parking lot. People who wanted to park their cars in this area would have to pay for their parking.

spacious parking lot right in front of the hotel

But I thought it was a good thing that there was such a spacious parking lot right in front of the hotel. Guests wouldn’t need to walk far to get to their cars.

view of the mountains from the front of the hotel

The view of the mountains from the front of the hotel was just amazing. Even though the mountains were getting covered up by clouds, I couldn’t help admiring the view.

hotel lobby

The hotel lobby looked very welcoming. I saw some comfortable sofas in a corner to sit down on.

different seating areas

There were lots of different seating areas. They were covered by soft velvet and looked really inviting. I decided to go up to the counter and speak to the staff.

It was also quite empty

It was also quite empty. There weren’t many guests so I could check in to my room quickly.

elevator

I headed towards the elevators. A sign next to the elevator doors also showed me the important areas of the hotel, like the bar or the carpark. The hotel had four floors apart from the ground floor.

small kitchen area in my room

Then I reached my room. I was pleased that I had a small kitchen area in my room.

washbasin on one side of the counter

There was a washbasin on one side of the counter to wash my hands. On the other side, next to an electric kettle, there were some tea and coffee sachets. There were even two electric burners with knobs at the center in case I wanted to cook.

I pulled open the cutlery drawer and found spoons, forks, knives and other kitchen utensils like whisks and spatulas.

Pots, pans and a cheese grater

Pots, pans and a cheese grater had been carefully arranged in one of the other drawers.

living room

Then I went into the living room. It was a small but cozy little space. There was one double seater sofa and a chair with a glass coffee table in front. The sheer curtains had been pulled over the windows for privacy.

large wall mounted TV

Just opposite the sofa was a large wall mounted TV.

TV screen had a page about the Hilton Hotel welcoming guests

The TV screen had a page about the Hilton Hotel welcoming guests. It also showed the temperature of Queenstown. There was a picture of the hotel with the mountains in the background on the screen.

pamphlets and brochures about the hotel and about Queenstown

I had booked a non-smoking room and there was a sign reminding guests not to smoke inside. Apart from that, there were a few pamphlets and brochures about the hotel and about Queenstown in general (e.g. places to go like the Ice Bar) as well as a welcome letter for the guests.

bedroom and bathroom

There were two doors leading out of the small living area. One led to the bedroom and the other led to the bathroom. The bathroom had a sliding door.

bed was really comfortable

The bedroom was quite small and cramped but the bed was really comfortable. It had a thick mattress on top and there were plenty of pillows. The room also had two bedside tables on either side of the bed as well as two reading lamps.

extra blankets on the top shelf

I opened the doors of the closet and found extra blankets on the top shelf. Apart from that, there were a number of empty clothes hangers inside the closet. I could hang up my dresses, shirts and jackets if I didn’t want them to get wrinkled.

iron was kept on a small shelf on one side of the closet

The iron was kept on a small shelf on one side of the closet. The hotel staff had really thought of everything. I wouldn’t need to call housekeeping to ask for things.

bathroom

Then I decided that I would take a look at the bathroom. It was quite spacious, compared to the small bedroom. There was a washbasin and vanity area with a big mirror and shelves to keep my products. It was well lit.

body lotion and hand wash by Crabtree and Evelyn
