Saigon Kingdom: Authentic Vietnamese Food in Remarkables Park Town Center, Queenstown
The Remarkables Park Town Center in Queenstown was filled with all kinds of shops, retail centers and restaurants. I was in the mood for some Vietnamese food (but in case you’re craving for some Korean Food, I would recommend the Mapo88 Restaurant). So when I saw a restaurant called Saigon Kingdom at Remarkables Park, I decided to go inside and check out the place. There was a woman working behind the counter and the restaurant looked brightly lit and welcoming. I could see large freezers full of bottles.
There was a counter at one end of the room, beside all the chairs and tables. There were multiple bottles of sauce and other condiments sitting on the counter. I felt hopeful that the restaurant would have some genuine and authentic Vietnamese food.
One wall had been painted bright red with gold accents. It had been painted to look like a brick wall and there were posters and fake plants stuck to the wall. It added a lot of brightness and color to the room. I even saw a couple of paper lanterns hanging in front of that wall.
The first thing that I had ordered was braised beef stew. It was served in a wide and shallow bowl and was filled with thick chunks of beef. The carrots, red onions and green onions added a lot of flavor to the stew. I used a spoon to eat the perfectly cooked meat.
I had also ordered some pho. After all, how could anyone visit a Vietnamese restaurant without trying their pho? This was lighter than the stew and it also had big pieces of carrot, onion and fried shallots. It was very warm and comforting.
Saigon Kingdom Menu
Saigon Kingdom had a paper menu that folded out. There was a large variety of things on the menu, from light dishes like spicy beef salad to seafood like grilled salt and chili fish fillet. There were also set meals and vegan options.
The front of the menu was filled with artwork and notes that gave the customers an idea about Vietnam. I thought the menu card was lovely!
The drinks menu also had several options, other than just wine and beer. There was vodka, rum and whiskey. For people who didn’t want to drink alcohol, they could order soft drinks, juice, green tea or the special Vietnamese drip coffee.
Cocktails with interesting names like Red Lotus and Hurricane were some of the other options. There were descriptions so customers knew what exactly they were offering. They also had white, red and rose wine.
