Wanda Reign Hotel Chengdu: Top Level Luxury and Comfort
I spent a night at the Wanda Reign Hotel in Chengdu, a luxurious five star hotel in the middle of the city (This is definitely different from the Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li Hotel.).
The lobby and reception area was very grand and upscale, with marble floors and walls and a huge chandelier hanging from the ceiling (I think everything here is so classy, including their breakfast buffet and amenities like their swimming pool & gym.).
As soon as I reached my room, I opened the closet to see what they had provided for me. Bedroom slippers and shoe polish were just some of the things placed in the closet.
There were racks where I could keep my things.
A pair of bathrobes and some extra clothes hangers for my dresses and coats had been provided.
Laundry bags and a price list for all laundry items at the hotel were placed on a tray.
There was a locker so that I could safely lock up all my valuables with a combination that I had set.
The hotel had even provided a beautiful white and blue bathrobe with flower patterns. It was different from the usual hotel bathrobes.
I went into the bathroom next. There was an oval bathtub and all the taps and bathroom fittings were a rich gold color.
The washbasin and vanity area was so large! Everything was made of marble and a fluffy white towel hung from the towel rack.
Little boxes of make-up remover, spectacles cloth and cotton balls were kept in the basin.
There were two large bottles of water, hand towels, lotion and a box of tissue.
A tray with a mother-of-pearl edge held dental kits, shower caps and other such necessities.
There was a special vanity mirror on one side and an electric socket in case I needed to plug something in.
On the other side hung a hairdryer, in case I needed to wash and dry my hair.
The most interesting thing about the Wanda Reign bathroom was the smart toilets. A pair of toilet rolls had also been provided.
They were the new Japanese toilets that did not require any touch. They could flush and clean the toilet without anyone needing to even touch a button. I had rarely seen the smart toilets so I found it all fascinating.
Apart from the big bathtub, there was also a shower area. It had the same gold bathroom fittings as the rest of the bathroom and was quite luxurious. It had elegant grey and white marble walls.
The hotel staff had provided bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, which were all placed in the shower. I saw that the bottles were quite small but it would be enough for one day. The products were by the French brand L’Occitane.
There was a switch to raise or lower the bathroom blinds inside the bathroom itself.
Then I went inside the main hotel room. It had very nice decorative touches and it didn’t look like a plain hotel room. There was a double bed and a couch at the foot of the bed.
Right opposite the bed was a big TV and the mini bar.
I found an espresso machine and a big electric kettle at the mini bar. They would be convenient if I wanted to make a cup of tea or coffee for myself.
The best part was that there was a traditional tea set and five different canisters of tea leaves. Of course, I was in China and they served excellent tea. I thought that I would try some local tea if I was in the mood for it.
There was a menu beside the tea which detailed all the snacks and drinks and their prices. I saw that things like beer, orange juice and Coca Cola were also available, other than just tea and coffee.
I opened the box beside the espresso machine and found some espresso pods that I could use in the machine. There were three different kinds, along with some coffee creamer. There were instructions about how to use the machine on the lid of the box.
I pulled open a drawer and found some coffee mugs, coasters and a Swiss knife.
Another drawer held a bin with a lid. I thought this was where I was supposed to throw my waste.
Some snacks, like wafers and crackers were placed inside another drawer. I would need to pay if I wanted to eat these.
Two pairs of glasses were kept in one drawer.
Another drawer held teacups and sugar sachets.
There was a pretty Chinese painting on the wall behind the bed.
A speaker sat on the bedside table.
There were switches to control everything, like the night light, reading light and the shades.
The chair looked very comfortable and there was a coffee table beside the chair.
There was another chair and a big desk in the other corner of the room. The desk held a lamp and a telephone.
There were also sockets and USB charging points right beside the desk so that people could work easily.
