Vanguard Specialty Café: Nice Coffee Stop in Dunedin

For my coffee stop in Dunedin (by the way, I stayed at The Terminus Hotel here), I decided to go to Vanguard Specialty Café. It looked like a nice, cozy little space and I was sure I’d also find some food there.

The counter had a big coffee machine and lots of coffee cups and saucers were all lined up. There was a menu leaning against the coffee machine.

Not just that, there were different kinds of coffees and roasts from places like Brazil and Ethiopia in the café. I was sure that their coffee would be wonderful.

I browsed through the menu and tried to decide what food I would order. It was a brunch menu and there were options like granola, French toast, pork belly benedict, roasted mushrooms and smashed avocado.

The drinks menu, on the other hand, had both iced and hot coffees. It also had options for other drinks like Foxton fizz soda and smoothies.

Once I had decided on my food, I could order. There was a huge oven behind the counter and I could see fresh baked products were being made.

Some of the freshly made food was neatly lined up on the bakery shelves. I could see a variety of savory and sweet options. Chicken burritos, burgers and quiches were some of the things that were available.

The café had huge windows along one wall and there were chairs and tables arranged in front of the windows.

I liked how green the café was

It also had several potted plants. I liked how green the café was. It looked very welcoming and pretty.

My cappuccino came out very quickly. The barista had drawn a cute heart on the foam in my cup.

I had also ordered a Foxton fizz soda in the raspberry flavor.

The first food item that came out was the smashed avocado. The toast was crisp and the avocado had been topped with greens.

Turkish eggs

I had also ordered Turkish eggs. They were served with toast on the side. The harissa was nicely spiced, the yogurt was tart and the spiced butter added a lot of flavor. It was also a very colorful and attractive looking dish.

Finally, they brought out my pastry with a side of butter. It was flaky and warm and delicious. I really loved finishing my meal with a sweet touch.

The savory case looked absolutely amazing (just like the bakery case in High Country Salmon Twizel). Everything was so colorful and looked so fresh.
