Since I was in Tokyo, I decided to try out the Terrace Restaurant at the Hilton Narita Airport Hotel. This hotel offers a free shuttle bus service to all their guests but I don’t want’ to go far during this time.
As someone who’s life revolved around travelling, I went in expecting the food to be so-so. The experience ended up being surprisingly positive.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it, the menu looks really plain. As someone who’s been travelling for quite some time though, I never judge a book (or a menu) by its cover. That said, I’ve seen far worse and what’s really important is what’s inside AND the taste of the food itself.
As expected, menu items are in English and Japanese. This isn’t a posh restaurant so I wasn’t really expecting much when it came to variety. I was actually hankering for some burger and fries but then I realized I might be better off getting a Big Mac meal (or three).
The main course selections, in my opinion, is a lot better in terms of variety. I also like that they have an All-Day breakfast option (their menu here is different from one offered at the Hilton Narita Hotel Restaurant) which is kind of expected for an airport hotel. That said, if I was to stay in this hotel for some time, I’d definitely be looking at the Asian Delights selections.
Though I’m not a vegetarian/vegan, it’s still nice to see non-meat options on the menu. The dessert selections were kind of a letdown but also understandable. I mean, this is Japan after all. You’re bound to find LOTS of better tasting desserts out in the streets than in an airport hotel. Heck, you’ll find arguably better tasting food on the dessert stalls in the airport itself.
Okay, enough talking about the menu. I decided to get a 7 ounce Japanese wagyu sirloin steak for my meal. It came served with bread and cost me around 9500 JPY. I don’t mind all the calories because there’s a gym and swimming pool here where I can burn all of them afterwards.
Aesthetics-wise, I wouldn’t say the presentation is worthy of an IG posting. The taste though, is actually okay. I ordered medium rare and was served with just that. It was seasoned just right and was juicy as can be when I took a bite. Wagyu is just so good though that it’s really hard to mess up.
The asparagus and mashed potatoes were also okay. Again, the star of the show is the Wagyu and everything else is just window dressing. That said, I did personally like the mashed potatoes (though it might be that I just like mashed potatoes in general).
Never been a big fan of sauce and other condiments on my Wagyu so I actually didn’t bother with these.
Unlike the sauce, I did end up eating the bread. Again, nothing to write home about. I slathered some butter on a piece and ate it before I ate the steak. For an appetizer, I thought it was okay.
Overall, my dining experience at Hilton Narita’s the Terrace restaurant wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t recommend that you go to Japan just for this restaurant but if you do find yourself here, you can at least enjoy the Wagyu.
