So the other time I talked about eating Wagyu at Hilton Narita’s Terrace restaurant. Well, this time around, I’ll be talking about what I did to burn off the calories I got from eating that juicy 7 ounce steak. Thankfully, I didn’t have to go far and use their free bus shuttle service to work out since the Hilton Narita has its own gym and swimming pool!
Hilton Narita Airport Hotel Gym and Swimming Pool: What to Expect
As you can see, the Gym and Swimming pool are fairly close by. For the ladies, you’ll be happy to know that the lockers and your restroom are all on the same level. Pretty convenient if you ask me.

Relative to like a Gold’s Gym or Planet Fitness, I’d say this is pretty sparse. Of course, this is understandable. This isn’t targeted for body builders or gym rats. As someone who travels a lot, sometimes I just need to be able to exercise in peace and this place was perfect.
It probably doesn’t happen too often but it was kind of refreshing to just have the whole gym to myself. As a warm up, I spent about 10-15 minutes on the rowing machine.
I didn’t want to tax my delts and shoulders too much so I then decided to work on my cardio. Initially wanted to try the elliptical but I decided to just go with the treadmill instead. I’m expecting to do a lot of walking in Japan so might as well build my cardio now (on top of burning off those calories).
It was at this point that I noticed that while the gym did have smith machines and dumb bells, there was a noticeable lack of barbells and heavy plates. Now I might be wrong and they might have it elsewhere in the gym. That said, I just didn’t see these when I was there. Also, this is a hotel gym for so not really surprising that it might not have a complete set of equipment.
Looking back, I don’t think I’ve used back extension machines that much in the time that I’ve been regularly going to the gym. Some friends seem to swear by them but I’ve always thought other core exercises are better. Still it’s nice that the Hilton Narita gym has these.
After I was done with my cardio, I then decided to explore the swimming pool area. And boy I was not disappointed when I eventually did get there. Now the tiles are whatever but the pool itself looks pristine and well maintained. In fact, I was surprised that nobody was there considering how sizable the pool was. Then I realized how cold it was at that time and yeah, makes sense why no one would bother swimming.
I hit up the pool chairs at this point and I must say the interiors in this area actually has really nice lighting. Along with the view outside, the pool area has to be one of the most relaxing areas in this hotel by far.
Just look at that lighting. Really the only thing holding the aesthetics of this place back is that bland tilework. Then again, I read that the hotel has been around since the early 90s so that’s probably why the aesthetics look a little dated.
While I might have given its overall aesthetics a slight knock, there are areas where the hotel’s tile work makes sense and looks great. Case in point is in this walkway leading to the pool area.
Another thing I noticed in the pool area is the large clock. I’ve always been intrigued by these so I did some digging and apparently these are called swimming pace clocks.
Finally we’re at the showers. There’s really not much that can be said about this area. Not the most aesthetic looking but it does look like it’s well maintained. I would have really wanted to get in and then take a swim in the pool but I just didn’t think I would have survived the cold. After checking this area out I then just decided to go back to my room to rest and save some energy.
Anyways, I did get my cardio for that day so all’s well that end’s well I guess. Overall experience with Hilton Narita Airport Hotel’s gym and swimming pool is very positive. Like Terrace Restaurant they’re not something that you ought to go out of your way to visit when you’re in Japan. However, if you’re staying at the hotel then I’d definitely recommend using these facilities.
