My Fun Trip to TeamLab Planets

My Fun Trip to TeamLab Planets

We often hear the phrase “ Japan is living in the future”. The places like TeamLab Planets actually prove this point.

Sure, there are many places to go when you visit Tokyo like the Asakusa Kannon temple or the Meiji Jingu shrine which both showcase traditional Japanese culture, but for me this digital museum should also be on your list when you go to the Japanese capital.

TeamLab Planets is actually a digital museum and it is a one of its kind facility. If you think Odaiba’s Unko Poop museum is already a very unique place think again after you visit this place.

TeamLab Planets: A Futuristic Digital Museum

Museums are often known for their archaic nature and old traditions. However, this digital museum is breaking the norms and setting higher standards for the world to follow.

Entrance

TeamLab Planets Tokyo

When you are at the entry gate of teamLab Planets, it actually gives you the vibe of a digital museum.

The entry to the museum can be obtained via a digital ticketing mechanism. You can get your ticket via a simple click and you don’t have to stand in long queues to get your entry ticket.

Right at the entry to the museum, there are a number of art installations that are totally interactive, these artworks immerse everyone in their beauty and technology.

BeanBag Floor

BeanBag Floor

One of the salient features of this museum is the inclusive nature of the museum. Once you enter the museum, it feels as if you are a part of this environment. This all joins up to make a very immersive experience and I absolutely loved it.

Another interestingly unique feature of this museum is that it has a portion that has a BeanBag floor. Sounds unique? Well, that is something this museum is all about.

The bean bag floor allows the visitors to:

    • Feel as if they are a part of the property
    • The visitors can feel cozy and relaxed
    • The pictures that are taken here are surely going to be a hit on social media

Water Ramp

Water Ramp

At teamLab Planets, the basic aim is to provide the visitors with a unique experience that they have not experienced ever before.

Can you imagine there being a pool at a museum? Well, that is exactly what you get at this fantastic setup.

This shallow water pool is made for everyone to sit , splash and enjoy while they are enjoying the visit.

This experience is highly immersive and interactive, as you are walking down the non-slippery ramp into the pool. The environment is highly interactive and it provides a completely unique experience for the visitors.

Ribbons of Color

Ribbons of Color

This has to be one of my favorite rooms at the museum.

There is pitch darkness in the room except the vibrant lights of a number of colors that are flying in the air. These colorful ribbons are surely a mood changer . In complete darkness , the dancing of the ribbons is surely a sight to behold.

This adds to the surreal experience of the situation. Moreover, we also get the illusion of the ribbons being infinitely long and I was really amused at the sight.

Maze of Spheres

Maze of Spheres

The maze of spheres is something you would never want to miss if you ever get a chance to visit teamLab Planets.

This maze gives you an experience that is completely out of this world. The big balls light up into a number of different colors and combinations and when that is immersed with the glass floor, the experience is subtle and surreal.

It’s a kind of experience which makes you want to come again and experience it all over again.

Small Hills Are Egg Like Shapes

Small Hills are Egg Like Shapes

This room shows what modern technology can do. At this digital museum , even the normally hard rocks and stones are turned into a squishy and soft material. These egg shaped small hills are a wonderful sight to see once they are lit up with a vibrant combination of colors.

These spherical small hills are a place to enjoy and relax while you are at the museum. Moreover, it is a fantastic spot for taking pictures.

Floating Flower Garden

What can be more dynamic and immersive in nature than a garden that is floating high up?

Floating Flower Garden

It gives you the vibes as if you are in heaven where you are able to see all of this and completely immerse into the environment around you.

View When Lying Down

The best point of view to look at these floating flowers is to lie down , take a deep breath and simply enjoy as you relax.

All in all, my experience at the teamLab Planets was such an immersive and unique experience that it is going to stay with me for a very long time.
