I had a travelling experience in the Hokuriku Shinkansen Gran Class.
By the way, there’s also the Hokuriku Shinkansen Green Car which I’ve talked about in another article here.
I took this shinkansen for my trip from Tokyo station to Kanazawa station for my 3-day trip in Kanazawa (and also, please read my post about the foods I tried in Kanazawa).

Overall, I would say it was a very comfortable journey.
Hokuriku Shinkansen Gran Class: Travel in Luxury and Comfort
Their seats were elegant and the service was excellent. The train’s overall interior was well-designed.
Everything was very clean on the train.
The Hokuriku Shinkansen Gran Class had everything needed for a comfortable journey.
My seat had ample legroom. It was big enough. It was very comfortable as well.
This seat was made up of leather and had a soft pillow that could slide up and down. I could adjust the pillow as needed.
One of the best features of my seat was its reclining capability, which was up to 45 degrees.
It could be easily adjusted as needed. The button was on the armrest of the seat. All the instructions for adjusting the seat were mentioned on the button, as shown in the picture above.
Soon after departure, everyone on the Grand-class train was given welcome kits.
Inside was a wet towel, a water bottle, salted chocolate and a menu for the food service.
In the menu, the first page showed a list of drinks, then the two different options that you had for the snack box that they provided.
I had to choose between Western food and Japanese food. The last page of the menu had a list of sweets. The food was free.
The Japanese meal was served in a bento-style box, as shown in the picture. It had a traditional taste.
Staff served the meal with alcohol-free sparkling wine (My choice).
The Japanese meal was very light, and I felt slightly satisfied.
As shown in the picture, this was the western snack that came in the sleek white box. This Western meal was neatly served and was delicious.
The portion was just right, not too heavy but enough to enjoy.
For the drink, as I said before, I opted for alcohol-free sparkling wine. It was served nicely with a glass to drink in. The drink was refreshing.
I got comfortable by switching to the slippers they provided, which were thicker and more cushioned than I expected.
