Hyatt Centric Hotel Kanazawa Reviews

Hyatt Centric Hotel Kanazawa Reviews

Though I typically don’t rave about hotels, today I’ll be making an exception. I went to Kanazawa onboard a Hokuriku Shinkansen Gran Class and stayed at the Hyatt Centric Hotel there and boy was it an experience.

I recorded a video for my stay at this hotel.

interior decoration at Hyatt Centric Hotel Kanazawa

I’m not gonna lie, this was one of the coolest things I saw in the hotel. I was looking forward to visiting the rabbits at Tsukiusagi no Sato so seeing a couple here (albeit not the live ones) had me excited.

hotel lobby

Remember when I said how the hotel looked homey when looking at it from the outside? Well, I was glad to find out that it looked really warm and comfy on the inside as well. It already felt like I was in a home away from my own home as I looked around the hotel’s lobby.

bonsai tree and the pile of wood that it was sitting on

One thing that really caught my attention though was this bonsai tree and the pile of wood that it was sitting on. I researched about this and apparently Kanazawa is known for its crafts. In Japan, it’s even called the “Kyoto of the North” which I admit I didn’t know up till now.

check in counter

After admiring the hotel lobby’s fixtures and interior design, I went ahead to the check in counter. It wasn’t a busy day so checking in was a breeze. Also, the customer service I received was superb. You kind of expect that in Japan but it seemed like they kicked it up a notch here.

hotel lobby's interior

I’ll say this again, the hotel lobby’s interiors just look so good. They really wanted to drive home the message that Kanazawa is a city known for its crafts and culture. I really appreciated the use of wood and excellent lighting to highlight this aspect of the city.

special room number plate

It’s not just the lobby where we see this theme being played out though. I found these cute plates the hotel used to indicate room numbers to be quite cute and at the same time ingenious.

hotel’s hallway

Much like its facade and lobby, the hotel’s hallways also look homey. I initially thought the carpet’s pattern looked out of place but I did end up getting used to it. The asymmetry and ‘noisiness’ (for lack of a better word) of the pattern kind of breaks up the uniformity of the walls and wooden doors.

my room

I finally arrived at my room and boy did it really feel like home. Like I think you get what I’m trying to say with just this pic alone. Anyway, the room was spacious and I couldn’t stress this enough, it looks and feels really comfortable.

my room's toilet

One of the ways that I know that I’m in a good hotel is when my room’s toilet area/comfort room looks as comfortable as this.

ironing horse

Also, it’s been such a long time since I last saw an ironing horse!

King Bed Deluxe Room

I was fortunate enough to have booked a deluxe room with a king sized bed and I couldn’t be any happier. Sleeping here was so comfortable and I definitely had some of the most tranquil nights in my travels thus far.

bath area

Much like the rest of my room, the bath area was spacious and looked really well maintained. With all the eating I’ve been doing (the breakfast buffet at the Five – Grill and Lounge Restaurant was great!), I also appreciated the digital bathroom scale to help me keep track of my weight.

chaise

The king size bed really was my base of operations for the duration of my stay so I didn’t have much time on the chaise. That said, it still was comfortable when I did end up using it. I could actually see someone in a group sleeping comfortably on it if the king bed is already full.

view from my hotel window

Another reason why I didn’t spend much time on the chaise is because I really wasn’t a fan of the view. So I don’t really think it’s bad. Rather it just looked uninteresting. And since I was mostly outside anyway, the view (or lack thereof) really wasn’t that much of an issue.

phone for room service

The great thing about Hyatt Centric boutique hotels like this one in Kanazawa is that you can always expect the staff to understand and be able to converse in English. I didn’t have to call for room service that often but when I did they were relatively quick to send help/address my requests.

sink faucet

While I used my own the whole time I stayed here, the toiletries the provided were honestly okay. If not for my personal regimen, I honestly would have seen no problem using these.

toiletries

Again, I used my own toiletries on this trip. I did try these once and they were alright.

safe inside the closet

Remember the open closet that I was raving about earlier, the cabinet there has this really neat safe where you can place your valuables. This is really nice if you have valuables you don’t want losing. That said, I never really used this much because this is Japan after all. Still, you can’t be too careful so it’s still great to have this just in case.

items for coffee making

You won’t believe how much time I spent here! As someone who has a caffeine dependency, this was THE PLACE to satiate my cravings.

I know I’ve been repeating this ad nauseaum but the Hyatt Centric Hotel Kanazawa is low-key one of the most comfortable hotels I’ve ever stayed in. From the ambience to its amenities like the gym and restaurants, I felt like I was at home. I know people hype Tokyo and Kyoto a lot but I think they’re truly missing out by not visiting Kanazawa.
