I was staying at Chengdu and I decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt Hotel (I was able to get to this city through the Chongqing to Chengdu High-Speed Train (Fuxing).). It was a high end hotel that was located on a famous and historical commercial road among lots of shops and restaurants (You can also read about my breakfast buffet experience here.).

Chengdu Grand Hyatt Hotel: It’s Definitely Worth It!
There were big glass doors that led into the lobby.
The statues of the giant pandas that were placed outside the glass doors were the cutest things that I had ever seen (They also remind me of the Selfie Panda at Yangtianwo Square Chengdu.). They were sitting and lying in all sorts of positions and they welcomed all guests into the hotel.
The reception was decorated with large bouquets of flowers. There were plenty of chairs and sofas for guests to sit down and relax.
Arrows on the walls showed the way to the reception, the lifts and the restaurant (you can also read my writeup about the gym, swimming pool & sauna of this hotel).
The floors were made of very shiny tiles and the light reflected off the tiles.
The hotel looked very luxurious and upscale. I decided to take pictures of every nook and corner!
There was a comfortable looking seating area with sofas and coffee tables. It would be a great place for guests to sit and chat.
There were various seating areas scattered around the reception.
There was a bookshelf against one wall. It was filled with books and awards.
The lights on the ceilings and the art installation were really fascinating. I had never seen anything like it!
Then I reached my room.
A little corridor between the bathroom and the closet led to the bedroom.
The bathroom had a lot of mirrors and extra toilet rolls had been provided.
The sink was pretty large and there was enough room to get ready. Hand towels and hand wash had been kept in the two corners.
Bathrobes and extra clothes hangers were hanging in the closet opposite the bathroom.
There was also an iron and an ironing board in case I wanted to iron my clothes.
A locker was provided for my valuables.
Baskets had been placed at the bottom of the closet. There was a bag where I could keep my shoes.
They had also provided a big paper bag with the logo of the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The shower area in the bathroom was quite spacious and large. There was a hand shower, which would make taking a shower very convenient.
The hotel had provided big bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash by a brand called Balmain. I knew that Balmain was a French luxury fashion house.
Not only did the bathroom have a shower cubicle but also a small bathtub!
I washed my hands at the sink. There were glasses for me to keep my toothbrush and other toiletry items.
The soap was also by Balmain.
I pulled open the drawer under the washbasin. There was a hairdryer inside, along with other toiletry items like body lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, nail files and cotton balls.
They had even provided a weighing scale and a bath mat.
There was a vanity area with a mirror where guests could get dressed and do their make-up.
There was a row of shelves between the vanity counter and the washbasin. It held extra hand towels and a lamp on the top shelf.
The bathroom was actually much bigger than it looked at first glance.
Then I went out into the room.
There was a mini fridge with some cans of soda and water bottles inside.
An electric kettle had been stored inside one of the drawers.
In another drawer, there were some sugar sachets.
Cups and saucers, spoons, coffee, tea and cookies had all been provided for the use of guests.
There were two pairs of glasses, tall and short ones, stored inside another drawer.
The hotel staff had even provided some fresh fruits like apples, bananas and oranges in case the guests would like to eat something healthy. I was happy about that even though Grand Hyatt didn’t provide as many snacks and drinks as I had seen in some other upscale hotels.
What I really liked in my room was one of the lamps on my bedside table. The stand was in the shape of a horse and was a lovely green color. There was a rectangular lampshade on top of it. I just had to take a picture!
There was a double bed with lots of comfortable pillows.
The room also had some chairs and desks for the comfort of the guests. They could easily sit at the desk and write or work if they wanted to.
A telephone and intercom system, a writing pad, a box of tissues and a digital alarm clock were some of the other things provided by the hotel.
The lights had a lot of settings, including blackout and sheer. Guests could switch on the night light or reading light from the bed itself.
I pulled back the curtains to admire the view.
The whole city was right in front of me, lit up brightly (I also had an excellent view of the city at Mercure Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li Hotel.).
